A Hopewell Riverside Family Session
There’s nothing I love more than watching a family grow year after year—and this session was such a sweet reminder of that. I’ve had the joy of photographing this crew for three years in a row, and this time, we met up by the river for a session full of exploring, laughter, and a little summer sweat.
We’ve gone from first birthday snuggles to full-on three-year-old adventures, and let me tell you—this girl is full of personality and joy. It’s been such a gift to document her growing up right in front of my lens!
Overcast Skies, Humid Air, and Pure Joy
The day was hot, humid, and overcast—the kind of weather that sticks to your skin and fogs up your lens. But we didn't let it hold us back! We threw rocks into the water, balanced on a log, and tried our best to not get too much sand in our shoes!
From there, we headed up to Appomattox Manor, where wide fields and river views gave us space to roam. Even though the humidity had us melting by the end, you’d never know it looking at the photos.
That’s the beauty of family sessions like this. It’s not about perfect weather—it’s about the connection and moments shared with your loved ones.
Candid Moments + Camera-Ready Smiles
One of my favorite things about working with families year after year is the trust we build. They know I’ll get those frame-worthy shots where everyone’s smiling at the camera—but also the little moments in between:
The way mom reaches for her daughter’s hand.
The way dad laughs when she runs around.
The way they are all just together.
It’s those unscripted in-between moments that really tell the story.
Already Counting Down to Next Year
This session was everything I love about being a family photographer in the Richmond, VA area-—beautiful locations, meaningful connections, and families who are fully in this parenting season.
